About Program

Our Combined Level 5 TEFL Certificate (168 hours) is regulated by Ofqual (UK) and approved by the DEAC (US), so has official recognition from 2 government-recognised bodies! This makes all the difference when applying for jobs.

Our course is designed with potential employers in mind. Within the industry, some employers prefer “hands-on” study rather than purely online. This is why our combined course provides 10 hours in the classroom with an additional 158 hours of online study. This course will give you the confidence you need for the classroom and allow you to have a competitive edge in the job marketplace.

The 10-hour weekend classroom course is designed to break down the fundamentals of TEFL. Within those 10 hours you will have teaching opportunities while also gaining knowledge from other students in the classroom.

Well structured, user-friendly & valuable

Because of the sheer number of Tefl courses out there, it is difficult to know what to choose. If you need to just quickly get a piece of paper saying you are “certified”, you can easily do this. If you want to actually learn how to manage and teach a class of EFL students, The TEFL Academy is the way to go. The combined level 5 course provides you with everything you need to start a career in EFL teaching and more. They take you step-by-step through everything and the online platform is well designed and super user friendly (sometimes using a phone or tablet can be frustrating so opt for a laptop). The course is also not super easy which I liked. I feel as though I was challenged and pushed to think like an EFL teacher would. The in-person part of the course was also just such a great addition, I would definitely not pass on this. The only downside I saw is the fluctuating prices of the courses. Depending on when you decide to start the course you could either save a lot or spend a lot more than you’d like. This can be frustrating when you see the price drop to 30% lower than what you paid for it a week before. But that is just life I guess and you really do get what you pay for. This isn’t just a certification, it’s a chest filled with incredible tools, resources and lessons.

Pros
  • User-friendly & well structured
  • Real-life useful tools and knowledge
  • Good amount of challenge
Cons
  • Fluctuating prices

TTA Level 5 Diploma TEFL

The TEFL Academy course level 5 was very nice and challenging for me. I learnt a lot about teaching English as a foreign language. The different techniques and approaches will help me in the future when I start the journey of teaching Engish online to people all over the world and broadening the English community. I am looking forward to it and thank you to The TEFL Academy for giving me the key to do it. I would recommend TTA level 5 Diploma TEFL to anyone who would like to make a difference in the lives of people.

Pros
  • Learning different tecniques
  • Learning new approaches
  • Quality material

Top Notch

I decided to do my TEFL 168 hours course through the TEFL Academy at the start of covid. It really kept me going with the prospect of future opportunities. The course was so convenient being fully online, I honestly couldn't recommend it more. The assistance offered by the tutors was amazing, I never had to wait longer than 3 days for a response. The course itself was easy to follow and covered all the necessary information to prepare you for teaching abroad. The only thing I can critique is how daunting and time consuming the assignments were, however if you just start and dedicate a little time to doing the work everyday, it is doable.

Pros
  • The course is fully online
  • The course covers all the topics needed to prepare you for your future career as an English foreign language teacher abroad
  • The course offers support with tutors that are quick to respond and helpful
Cons
  • The assignments are quite daunting - not hard, but daunting.
  • The course can be quite pricey for someone who still doesn't have an income
  • The course is online and doesnt offer any teaching practice face to face.

The title is formal and professional

The Tefl Academy provided a useful platform to learn on. Instructions were very clear which was helpful considering online courses can be very confusing. This was a logically set out course with a generous amount of examples given so you can truly understand the concepts as well as a variety of activities in between the coursework which provide mini tests so you can gage how well you are grasping the concept of the work. The activities are all very easy to follow and rather enjoyable in my opinion. The end of unit tests can be quite tricky but they ffird you the opportunity to fail, restudy the work and try again which is motivating. Tefl assignments defintaly proved the most challenging but they provided examples of what you will encounter in the real work of teaching therefore you learn a lot whilst doing them. Overall I was very satisfied with the course and would most certainly recommend it.

Pros
  • The tests help you gauge how well you are understanding the work so far.
  • The assignments help you practice for real world work you will be required to do when teaching
  • The course was easily understandable to follow and learn from
Cons
  • Examples sometimes seemed irrelevant to learn
  • Work was sometimes repetitive and thus boring to learn
  • It's tough to gauge how much more work you have to do in your time limit because you cannot see what's to come so you cannot plan how to study

Great experience with The TEFL Academy

I did the level 5 course with The TEFL Academy and it was money well spent. It was extremely convenient to do this course at my own time and pace. The course can be completed in less than 6 months and everything is online. The staff of The TEFL Academy gives complete feedback about your assignments and the marking of the assignments gets done within a few days. The course material is interesting and provides multiple resources for lesson plans and activities. I can recommend this course to anyone who would like to explore their options in teaching English online or overseas.

Pros
  • Interesting study material
  • Great support from the staff
  • Everything is online

Level 5 TEFL program course

I undertook the Level 5 TEFL course in hopes to teach abroad. I was not prepared for how lengthy the chapters would be and had started off committed to note taking which prolonged the length of time I took to finish the course. However, after Assignment A I realised you don't have to study too intently to pass the assignments. You can always go back to each chapter at any time. I enjoyed the learning activities although there could have been a bit more for checking understanding. The website is designed fairly well and easy to navigate. I found it a bit annoying however to constantly get logged out for being inactive for a little while. Besides being tedious at times the course content is overall very informative. I learned quite a lot of things I had not known about the English language beforehand. It also gives helpful guides and tips to teaching. Any queries I had through the course were addressed usually within a day or two. As far as what happens after completion of the course, I can't say much as I'm still applying for jobs (completed a month ago) nor can I comment on how ready the course gets you to teach. I was unfortunately under the impression that they would assist you more actively in finding placements but the help given after completion is simply links to job sites. If you're not from the developed (first world) English speaking nations, such as myself, be warned there are countries that will not want you. Something I had inquired about prior to undertaking the course but was assured not to worry about. This is obviously quite disappointing as it should be about a teacher's qualifications and capability.

Pros
  • The course was informative and detailed
  • It's in my opinion not too expensive for what you get
  • You receive help and responses to queries through the course
Cons
  • Simply providing links to job sites is not exactly the help I was expecting to receive in finding jobs
  • Disclaimer should be included about a lot of countries only wanting teachers from certain nations so I'm questioning if the course was worth it

The TEFL Academy Level 5 qualification

I started this year unsure of what I wanted to do during my gap year. I have always enjoyed teaching so when I heard about this course I jumped right in. I really enjoyed the course and loved how easy and accessible it was to do. The assignments were challenging in a good way (they get you to think out of the box) and the end of unit tests are great for checking which work needs revision. I enjoyed the course so much that I am actually upset that it's over. Although, I am excited for what's to come.

Pros
  • I learned a lot about teaching
  • A short and engaging course
  • Affordable

I recently completed my level 5 course and it’s been an amazing experience. I am yet to find a job but it has only been a few days since i finished so i am very hopeful.

It was an amazing experience. The tutors are very specific when giving you feedback on your assignments and the assignments are very challenging, they require you to do a lot of research. The support team is wonderful! They respond to you as soon as yesterday. The assignments provide you with some sort of practical experience, especially assignment B, there were times when i literally felt like i was in the classroom because i had to plan a full lesson and be realistic about everything i would say and materials i would use

Pros
  • You work at your own pace
  • Can be done part time
  • Tutors are very specific in their feedbacks.
Cons
  • Some activities can be completed using a phone, you need access to a laptop
