About Program

At Therapy Adventures, we establish free pediatric therapy clinics that offer exceptional speech, occupational, physical, and ABA therapy services across Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.

For many, receiving therapy is far-fetched and not feasible, and at Therapy Adventures, we see this as precisely the reason why providing access to life-changing therapies is invaluable. Our brothers and sisters worldwide deserve the access and opportunities to receive treatments. The fact that this is challenging is irrelevant; rather, it excites us and our volunteers. Therapy Adventures will allow you to contribute to long-term and sustainable development programs that bolster the local capacity to provide therapy. We believe ALL children should have access to pediatric therapies, no matter the location or circumstance.

Therapy Adventures will help your resume stand out with a unique international experience that demonstrates your heart's desire to help others.

Therapy Adventures Belize

This trip was AMAZING! I would highly recommend Therapy Adventures and look forward on going on another trip with them. This is a great opportunity for both students and professionals as you gain so much insight on speech, occupational, and behavioral therapy abroad. The trip was well balance, organized, and having water and food included in the trip was SO nice. I look forward to sharing this opportunity with my university and applying what I learned during this trip into my graduate school experience.

Pros
  • Safety
  • Excursions
  • The trip was truly eye opening and impactful - both in and out of the clinic
Cons
  • Getting used to the heat and humidity but nothing too bad and as expected
  • Getting more time in the clinic to not only observe but to also work with clients

Belize Trip 01.2023

On this trip to Belize, we were able to assess the needs of the families out in Belize. It was a great experience where I brought my skills and knowledge to support the staff in Belize and provide in vivo support to the families. In addition, I learned the importance of cultural diversity and how challenging it can be for families to obtain services that are easily accessible to families in the states. There was also time for fun; my favorite excursion was cave tubing. This was a well-balanced experience!

Pros
  • Providing support to families
  • Cultural Inclusion
  • Excursion
Cons
  • Volunteers personal agendas

Therapy Adventure-Belize Program

I have worked in the field of ABA for the past four years and have received my master's in ABA, but with that being said, I have been feeling burnt out in the area and haven't been making an impact on the kiddos I support in the states. But this trip helped rebuild my love for ABA. It was terrific to work with others in the field who live all over the U.S., to learn from them, and helped me understand and create new skills. I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves working with families and wants to impact the world of ABA significantly. I truly loved this experience, and I'm ready to go back!

Pros
  • One on one support with the lead BCBA
  • Was able to work with others and share different expertise
  • Also was able to have "fun day" and experience new adventures after the work day was complete
Cons
  • Long travel days to different work sites

Therapy Adventures Panama Trip

I’m a seasoned therapist and I’ll be forever grateful I was able to go to Panama with Therapy Adventures. It greatly exceeded my expectations in every way. It was incredibly organized, well put- together and I felt safe and supported from the moment I arrived at the airport until departure. Our trip leader was fantastic, the accommodations were wonderful and the volunteer experience was truly life changing. We were provided an orientation day prior to visiting the orphanage which I felt was very necessary and super helpful. The experiences I had at the orphanage were memorable and meaningful and I was able to collaborate with the other therapists and participate in therapy sessions and provide hands on care. It was so special connecting with those kids and I hope to return for a longer duration someday soon. Panama itself is a vibrant and beautiful country and Therapy Adventures provided us with the perfect balance of sightseeing, free time and volunteer work.
I highly recommend a Therapy adventures trip to students and therapists alike.

Invigorating. Eye-opening. Enriching.

That's how I would describe my Therapy Adventure week in Belize. The time we spent with the clinicians was an incredibly humbling and eye-opening experience into what it's like to work full time as a therapist. I loved spending time with the kids and seeing their growth and development and left feeling completely inspired.

Outside of clinic time, the team had organized several fun adventures for us. My favorites were the green iguana conservation project, Mayan ruins, Caye Caulker boat trip and chocolate making. Would also rate the accommodation facilities provided - staying at the Belize Tropical Center was such a highlight. Highly recommend this trip to anyone who is ready for new, unforgettable experiences and is ready for lots of fun!

Pros
  • Eye opening experience
  • Fun excursions included
  • Good accommodation
Cons
  • Getting used to the bugs in the tropical weather

Panama Trip

Having the opportunity to travel to Panama with Therapy Adventures was a great experience. I love this program because I was able to travel to a new country while also gaining valuable experience in my field of special education and ABA. My group was able to have a training about the children we would be working with our first weekday there. Tuesday-Thursday we were able to observe the therapists (OT, PT, SLP, and special education teachers) that worked at the orphanage working with the children while also having opportunities to work with them ourselves and collaborate with the other therapists. We also were able to bring the children to different places in their city that they never had the opportunity to see. Our first and last day there we had guided boat tours of islands, beaches, and rainforests near us. The whole time I was there I felt safe and we had an amazing driver who took us to and from everywhere during the week. Therapy adventures provides a great opportunity to travel safely while also providing therapeutic work to children.

Pros
  • Work with children with disabilities in an orphanage
  • Learn about therapy opportunities in other countries
  • Explore Panama safely with group

The perfect balance between hard work & play!

It was incredibly humbling to work on functional communication skills with the special children and young adults in Belize at summer camp. I was most certainly impressed with the positive relationships, trust and powerful impact Therapy Adventures is making in the community. The programming offers hope to many families. Everyone on earth deserves to communicate basic wants and needs. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I felt honored to be a small part of this sustainable communication!
The Therapy Adventures leaders and volunteers I joined for the week were intelligent, interesting and beautiful human beings. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and connections.
The outdoor adventures such as zip lining and cave tubing were icing on the cake!
I will carry fond memories forever of my time in Belize with Therapy Adventures!

Pros
  • Fun Adventures
  • Perfect Balance of hard work & play
  • Learning all things about Belize and it’s beautiful people!
Cons
  • Saying goodbye to students & team—that was hard!
  • Minimal materials

All Around Wonderful Experience

I throughly enjoyed my experience with Therapy Adventures. Not only are they extremely accommodating, but they also plan enjoyable and meaningful experiences unique to the country you travel to. There was a nice balance between experiencing Belize and volunteering in the community. I loved how volunteers were taken at the level they were at. What they had to offer was utilized. This allowed me, a prospective therapist, to feel involved as well as the opportunity to expand my current understanding. This was a wonderful experience to see the interaction between disciplines and see how they can work together to produce progress. I do not have enough good to say about this organization! I would participate in another trip in a heartbeat! Would highly recommend this experience to anyone.

Pros
  • Expand your understanding of the scope of different therapy disciplines
  • Experience new and exciting adventures
  • Make new connections and friendships with people from different backgrounds
