BIPOC Support

Salisa Language School accepts TEFL trainees and students from any country or region in the world. The main criteria for anyone participating in our course is that the English language is spoken and understood very well. Separately a rule promoted by the authorities in Thailand is that graduated TEFL teachers seeking work there hold a Bachelor-Degree in any field. If TEFL graduate is a non-native English speaker (NNES) they must pass a TOEIC test before being accepted into a position as a TEFL teacher at a Thai school. TEFL graduates from NES countries (Australia, USA, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland) are highly sought after and no TOEIC test is required. The Bachelor-Degree, supported by TEFL graduation will, in the main, assist POC and NNES in obtaining TEFL teaching positions in Thailand.

All participants of the Salisa Language School are treated equally.

Neurodivergent Support

TEFL Course in Thailand

SLS is a good place to study TEFL. I finished my TEFL course on 03rd March 2023. I am from Cambodia and have had a long journey to study in Thailand at SLS school. What I loved the most while studying was the practice of teaching in a huge international school in Thailand. So that I can practice and produce while learning TEFL. The challenge is that the lesson is so much to remember each day; anyways, it always happens when we start any course. I enjoyed learning with my teacher Calian, just sometimes, he is so strict, sometimes he makes some fun. One more thing, I love going to school because the staff at SLS are so friendly. Especially Mam is the director. She is so friendly and always assists me when I need help during my teaching practice.

TEFL Jan 2023 at Salisa

I have known Paul as parent and friend over the past eight years and have had the privilege of working together in a number of school community projects since. I never thought I would be taking the TEFL course after my retirement to begin with! Paul together with SLS professional and friendly team members, in particular Cillian, course instructor and Khun Mam, school manager have put together a well-planned content that focuses on the approaches to the learning and teaching of English as a foreign language to non-native speakers. A lot of work went into the preparation, daily execution and in particular the 5-day practical teaching experience organized with a local company and a school in week three. Cillian’s constant encouragement, unique approaches and personal styles to instill the core of the course to be applied in different situations are admirable. Both Cillian and Paul chose to focus on individual strengths. They are great at following up on things that matter yet patient enough to allow me to have my space. I am proud of myself for having completed the course and more importantly having acquired the skills that can be put to good use. Thank you sincerely to Paul, Cillian, K Mam, Nong Gai and the lady cleaner along with SLS networks!!! You are the best ;)

Pros
  • A systematic review of how people communicate and learn.
  • Apply the principle in teaching a topic towards getting ideas acrossed in different ways.
  • Personal affirmation that being bi-lingual or tri-lingual can be very beneficial.
Cons
  • A change of location, space layout and lightings will make a big overall impact and attract more learners; young and adults.
  • A review on the age groups suitable for individual students during the practical teaching period.
  • A feedback session from the students about their practical teaching experience back in class.

Very good experience overall

I enjoyed that we were able to put our skills to use and gain real experience of the challenges and demands of being a teacher.
Learning the dynamics within a classroom, delivering the contents of the lesson, structure and learning as I go.

I felt fully supported by the team and look forward to the work I have ahead. Special thank you to Cillian and Paul for assessing and giving constructive, encouraging feedback. They’re both very experienced in this field and have a lot to share. They’re both open to feedback and very friendly so if you have any questions you can feel free to ask them. It’s always reassuring to know that they are there as guidance counselors too in a way.

It’s still quite new to me but I hope I can continually grow and improve.

Pros
  • Affordable
  • Not a large time commitment
  • Developing confidence as a teacher
Cons
  • I suggest living close to SLS to reduce travel time

TEFL Course

I highly recommend the Salisa Language School to anyone considering taking a TEFL course.

The 4 week course was intense and very challenging at times but Cillian (Hayes), my instructor, is a very experienced teacher and trainer and was always on hand to provide encouragement and any assistance necessary. He was also very flexible with regard to the day to day running of the course.

On the administrative side, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful at all times and Paul (Lambert) is already actively seeking out teaching opportunities for me, only days after completing the course.

Pros
  • Tutoring, flexibility and admin staff

Great course

I enjoyed the TEFL course very much. It was very informative, I started applying some new teaching techniques straight away. The course gave me the confidence to compose my own lessons for online tutoring. Within one month after I got my certificate, I found a job at a Thai school. The assessors there mentioned that I was fully trained for teaching English.
People who work at SLS are very nice and professional. They help you find a job after graduation. They also offered free preparation for TOEIC which helped me a lot.

Pros
  • Interesting course
  • Real practice
  • Practical knowledge
Cons
  • Not completely organised (the dates of the practice lessons could change during the course)

Great place and supportive staff

I am so thankful to this school and it’s staff. Great support and amazing people. Especially khun Paul. Who has helped me a lot through the process of finding a job. Me looking for a job would really really be hard without their assistance and guide. I was being guided through nearly all the steps and necessary papers. That would have been difficult if done alone. I recommend this school to everyone looking for knowledge, support, different language skills and great place and people.

Thank you again!

TEFL course July 2022

The Course surpassed my expectations: excellent teaching, small class, and valuable practice sessions with hands-on feedback.
Our hours were reasonable and the facilities cool and quiet. Many of the class assignments are used as practice teaching and we received evaluation on a permanent basis. This made practice teaching a lot easier.
Other than that many of the classroom management and teaching techniques proved essential knowledge. Also , we received some very practical advice on CV composition and job applications for teaching in Thailand.

The only pont of concern was our paperwork, handouts an organisation everyday. We needed to stay on top of things and plan! The culture course and Thai practice lessons I would have preferred in week 1 but other that : a great course and valuable time investment !

Pros
  • Individual coaching
  • Varied teaching content
  • General instruction and teaching
Cons
  • Paperwork …
