My son attended the Summer 2018 program 3 (Medical and Life Sciences) and had a fantastic time. This was his first camp as a residential student. He and I were a little nervous. But the staff and organization of the program put him at ease. He made life long friends from all over the world. The administration of the program and his experience were beyond measure. He was sad that his time in the program had to come to an end. He will definitely attend next year. The speakers/lecturers were amazing. The children were able gain knowledge through hands-on processes and demonstrations. This experience helped our son confirm his desire to be an Orthopedic Surgeon in the future.

Reach Cambridge was by far one of the best experiences of my life. I have travelled across 10 countries and engaged in many academic programs, yet the amazing atmosphere of the program set it apart from any other. The courses were extremely informative and I learnt loads of new things. The teachers were caring and always pushed us to look at things from a different perspective. Our housing was extremely clean and nice and the supervisors were always around to help us out. Although our schedule was packed, we had the best time! The activities were fun and engaging (and also very competitive) I would 10/10 recommend this program. I made friends for a lifetime and we still video call or text! I left this program much more polished and happy!

What would you improve about this program?

Everything was perfect!

I had an amazing time at reach learning about physchology and meeting new friends from all around the world. Through out the programme we were always doing fun activities to keep us busy. The college residential facilities were amazing in downing college. If I was to go again I would! It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. All the different teachers I had were amazing and the lectures made me very interested in certain topics that I thought I would never be interested in. I definitely reccomend this experience to the people who are thinking about it!

Reach Cambridge was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I have made lasting friendships, and the teachers were wonderful. Our class discussions were intriguing. I was encouraged by both my teachers and classmates to share my thoughts and ideas with the group. I learned so much during my time at Reach, and I met some amazing people. I definitely recommend checking this program out if you are looking for a fantastic summer adventure and lasting memories!

What would you improve about this program?

The creative writing add-on could be longer than two days.

Reach Cambridge has been one of the most educational and beneficial experiences I've ever had. It teaches you to be responsible and make new friends, and introduces you to all types of cultures from all over the world. In addition, the classes are very good and advanced. They give you a glimpse of what it wold be like to learnt these subjects in university. You leave ReachCambridge knowing so much more. It is a wonderful experience where you meet people that you will remember your whole life. Even the supervisors and everyone in charge have played a huge role in making sure we had the time of our lives and did all sorts of activities, and I will always be grateful for that. I highly recommend ReachCambridge and I will always remember all the amazing memories I made there.

Day 1 -
Welcoming tour + very amusing presentation. Nice (small) and cosy room. Sinks in closets :)
Trinity hall mug looked great so I got one.

Day 3 -
Catapults in engineering class. Worked great in testing. Not so well in actual demonstration -__-

Day 4 & 5
6 hour straight of time dilation (among other things). Interesting, but extremely exhausting. I wanted to sleep then but learnt some interesting stuff though. My friend did sleep for two hours.

Next day we went to observatories and telescopes for lesson + a lecture on negotiation. China's fake markets trained me well ;)

Couldn't sleep that night. Dance and music lesson just across from my room. Yay.

Day 6 -
FIELD TRIP!
Stratford upon Avon (Shakespeare's Home). My friends and I ended up grabbing some McDonalds and eating most of the while. I think the view was better than the house.

Went to Warwick castle after. Card Games with friends on the bus. Maybe it sitting in the backwards chair was a bad idea...
Eagle show + Jousting. How much more medieval can you get???
Another friend bought a metal sword there. Fruit ninja in the dorms that night :O

Day 7 -
Much Ado About Nothing... MEXICAN EDITION in the Glove Theatre London.
Another game of cards. Some friends promised to teach me 52 pickup on the bus. You have NO idea ;)
Got a free watermelon from the cast (they had them in the scene and I was at the front of the stage. Yummy!)
Modern Art museum definition = big building with coloured squares, sand Carlos and Sainsbury receipts. Huh.
Pizza express dinner :P

Day 8 -
"School day" again. D:
Electromagnetism. I think the highlight of the day was punting, and I nearly got catapulted (literally) into the water when the punt got stuck and was going under the boat :/ It was fun :)

Charity auction
Free Higs for 73 Pounds? SOLD.
DONUT Eating competitions too :)

Day 10 -
Leaving party? I think my diary I wrote before is messed up. ANYWAYS. Disco :D
I'm not big on it, so I played lots of card games with friends. Banker ended up having to write "check". I had over 20000 money. :)

It wa great fun, and I was sad to leave. I wished I had chosen the four week course instead.

What would you improve about this program?

ITS PERFECT

All I knew about Cambridge that it's a small city where you can get good education but after I stayed there for 4 weeks I became addicted to that place. A very beautiful city with it's authentic buildings and colleges. But the best part of that city was Reach. Reach really taught me a lot of things and made me grow as a person. One of my favourite things is meeting people from around the world which Reach did great in that. More than 15 nationalities I met the diversity is insane in a very beautiful way and not forgotten the high quality education I got which was not only in one program but two. I really enjoyed everyday I spent there. 30 days which I'll never forget. All I have to say is thank you very much.

What would you improve about this program?

By keeping up the great work they do and keep there supporting to the students.

During my time in Cambridge I had the perfect chance to equally learn about university life and the British culture, at the same time I met people from the whole world. It was so fun! The staff was so helpful and supportive all the time, and you could say they put so much effort in planning the activities and make sure we were all doing fine. I would definitely recommend the program to everyone who is looking forward to going out of their comfort zone.

Why did you choose this program?

There were several factors that made me choose this program above others. First, I love England, so the location was a huge plus for me. I loved the idea of taking an English literature class in one of the most prestigious English universities in the world. I also really liked the international crowd the program promised, as well as the prospect of having the college experience in a proper university town.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

Travel arrangements, be they by plane, train, or car are up to you, however, the program does offer pickups at Heathrow and Gatwick. Reach provided a lot of advice about how much money to bring, what to pack, and how to go about both arriving and leaving. They also held at least two Instagram live streams in the months leading up to the program so that you could ask whatever questions you wanted.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I would tell you to be prepared to meet a crowd more international than any you've likely encountered before. Speaking as an American, I had never truly interacted with people my own age from other countries. By the time I left Reach, I had friends in San Francisco, Belgium, London, Iran, Austria, and Greece, many of whom I am still in contact with. This allowed many fascinating discussions where we compared our cultures as well as our school systems.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

Breakfast starts between 7:45 and 8:00, and classes start at nine. It can take between zero and twenty minutes to walk to your class, depending on which college it is in. The classes then run until one, with a few fifteen- or twenty-minute breaks. Most afternoons, you are then completely free until dinner starts at 5:30. There are afternoon activities, such as sports, but most weren't mandatory.

Many days, though not all, there was a lecture in the evenings, which lasted from 6:30 to roughly 7:30. There were then evening activities, such as the talent show or the charity auction. On nights when there were no compulsory evening activities, Reach was usually still running something like Wii sports or a sing-along competition, to name a few. Curfew is at 10:30, but you're supposed to be back in your college at 10. It is then entirely up to you when you go to sleep.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I suppose my biggest fear was that I wouldn't make any friends and I would have to spend the program alone. It was sort of a nagging fear in the back of my mind up until the first day. As it happened, I did meet three people on the first day with whom I immediately connected, and over the next few days, three more joined our little group. However, even if I hadn't met those, Reach was a uniquely welcoming environment.

Breakfast and dinner are both eaten in a dining hall, where everyone sits at one or two long tables. This means that you couldn't sit alone even if you wanted to. Because everyone is let out from classes at the same time, there is a good chance someone would invite you out to lunch with them. I found the kids at Reach to be extremely socially proactive and inviting. I can only assume that this will also be true of future programs.

How is rooming decided?

Reach students will stay at one of two or three different colleges. Both colleges and rooms are decided based primarily on age group. I stayed at Downing, where the younger students were. There were about forty five kids between 14 and 17. The older students, the 17- and 18-year olds, stayed at another college.

Neither your course nor your nationality has any effect on where you stay. My roommate happened to be taking the same class as me, but that seemed to be unique. Corridors are single-sex, but the staircase as a whole is co-ed. My staircase had boys on the first two floors and girls on the third. You can also put in a request for your roommate if you know someone else who is going, or you can request a single room.

What is your favorite travel memory?

When I traveled to Switzerland for work, I went to a school fair in Zurich. There, by chance, I bumped into two students who had attended our programmes before - it was amazing to see how much they had grown in confidence over the summer, and great to catch up. They were in a place where they were now thinking about applying to university, and it was lovely to see them begin to plan their futures with confidence.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

My ability to think analytically and prioritise has grown immensely since I started in my role. I have been trusted with responsibility for high-priority tasks, and as a result, my confidence, time management, and people skills have seen a vast improvement.

I have also grown personally, as I learn to see things from a different perspective each time we hold a programme, thanks to the international diversity of our students.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

We had one student, who studied Business Management & Economics at Reach, who then informed us of her decision to study Economics at University, and said it was the projects and fun tasks during our programmes that made her fall in love with the subject.

She also mentioned that she frequently met up with another student she met in the programme years prior, and they remained best friends despite living thousands of miles apart.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would probably choose the Liberal Arts summer course since it offers such a diverse range of topics, some of which I've never really delved into before. To get such a solid foundation of various humanities subjects, taught by experts in their respective fields, would be a massive thrill from an arts-nerd like me!

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I would say it's the welcoming atmosphere that truly makes Reach special. Whether you're a staff member of 10+ years, a temporary employee on your first day, or a passionate student nervous about being away from your parents, Reach has a way of making everyone feel immediately at home.

I get especially proud of the team at the end of every spring/summer, when students who've known their peers and staff for only one, two or four weeks are overcome with emotion at having to say goodbye. It says a lot about the effort of every individual team member that we can create such a wonderful & lasting experience in such a short space of time.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I believe that taking responsibility and providing support for your fellow team members is what makes a successful company. Work ethic and skill-set are obviously important, but if you're not comfortable enough to ask for help or own up to mistakes, the trusting dynamic of the team suffers and productivity will suffer as a result.
