Summer 2018

This program gave me the chance to live my future career and become truly independent. Working in a whole new country was a great confidence booster, and the people at Fashion Week Internships really helped me to dive into the culture and experience. I am so grateful to have had this amazing opportunity, and came home with amazing memories, and new friends, having spent my first, and hopefully not my last, Summer in the UK.

My time in London and Paris was......

Exciting, exhilarating, fun, hard-work, challenging, crazy, off-beat, enjoyable, and unforgettable.

I found out about this program thru google and decided to reach out to find out more. I was surprised how quick my application process went, and decided it was an opportunity I didn't want to miss.

I lived in the same residence as many of the other interns from Fashion Week Internships, and we planned our own events and nights out. I met so many students from the program and I made friends from all around the world, Spain, Italy, Canada and home.

Getting to spend the weekend in Paris with my company was the best time ever.. We were backstage at Paris Couture working with a client, and still had time to see the city!

Even though the weekend in Paris was a real highlight, my time in London was fantastic! The company I worked for was really friendly and nice, and I learned so much.

Overall, it was such an amazing experience and I would go back and live it all over again in a second!

What would you improve about this program?
I was happy with everything.

Winter 2017 - FWI - Fashion Week Internships, London internship experience

It was incredible! I follow the Executive MBA at London College of Fashion, and used the internship to compliment and support my academic learning objectives. I interned with a Luxury Brand supporting their show prep for the upcoming London Fashion Week. The feedback FWI received from the partner was that everyone was overwhelmed by my dedication, and effort.. I hope I have a chance to work with them in the future! thanks! Eleonora

I completed a marketing internship with a modelling agency which was such an eye opening experience and really made me realise how much I love this industry. The social aspect was just amazing! Met some really really fun people, and made some friends for life! Definitely worth it, would highly recommend to anyone thinking of doing this program. If I had to change something it would be the housing. LA is a big city and it was difficult to find housing close enough. Overall an amazing Summer, in an amazing city.

Accommodation options were limited.

Experience of a lifetime!

I spent an entire semester in London interning for a British couture house! I had the support of the faculty to help plan the program, and they liaised with the program provider so I was able to earn credit.
My experience in the city was brilliant. Every weekend we discovered new places, and it was easy meeting people. I feel honored to have been given the opportunity to learn so much, and would love to visit London and intern again in fall.

What would you improve about this program?
I really enjoyed every aspect, but would like to see more assistance for vegetarians in the residence, as most of the food was more suited to meat-eaters.

The team were lovely, welcoming and very helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The only downside was not being able to stay longer as I felt it would have broadened my understanding of the business and given me the chance to meet more people, despite that it was great to work in a renowned agency especially during fashion week!

I just wanted to say many thanks for all your support, liaising and organisation on such short notice and I would highly recommend the internship and your company.

What would you improve about this program?
For me everything was fine.

Perhaps having someone at the airport to meet would be nice.

How much do you recommend Fashion week internships in London Programme? Is it reliable?

I can definitely recommend Fashion Week Internships London Programme, having completed one myself last Summer. My experience was great, and as it was my first time interning overseas my family and I relied heavily on their experience to organize housing and to get me prepped with the visa. I'm happy to recommend them and the overall experience in London, which is an amazing city!

We always recommend that applicants apply as early as possible to give themselves the strongest chance of having their application accepted, and as early applications typically have a wider range of potential host companies to have their application matched with.

Christian joined FWI as a Program Manager two years ago having worked in the fashion industry for 5 years at a leading PR agency.

What is your favorite travel memory?

I have been really lucky and travelled to each of our program destinations to get a real feel for what our interns can expect, but my favorite travel memory has to be being backstage at NYFW in 2014, and suddenly realizing amongst the chaos, that we work in the most amazing, crazy, creative, and mad industry in the world!

Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

For me Goa is the most underrated destination in the world. It is so naturally beautiful and peaceful, and the people are so welcoming but it still has a reputation as a bit of a hippy or party place, which I didn't see at all.

I think Las Vegas is the most overrated destination that I have travelled to, having said that, when I first went as a starry-eyed 20-year old, it was heaven!

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Hard work, making sure that we deliver the best experience for each and every applicant, knowing that success is in the details, and having fun!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have learnt so much, been able to enjoy some great experiences, and have learnt how important and valuable the work that we do is, always feel great when one of the interns gets back in touch to tell us that they have secured an industry job thanks to taking part in one of our programs, or when I get an email telling me that they have had a great experience.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

We have amazing relationships with the widest range of industry partners that you can imagine, and are really proud of them.

All of our team has a fashion background and so we really understand the importance of making sure that each program really makes a difference to each applicants career, whether that be through them gaining great experience, opening their eyes to how the industry works, or helping them to develop their network of industry contacts.

Describe a time when you felt especially proud to be part of your current team.

We received an application a couple of months ago, from a young lady who was arriving into London the next day and really really wanted to see how London Fashion Week worked.

She kept calling to see if we had received her application and to find out when we could interview her, and so we found time to do it the same day.

She was so passionate about the industry, and didn't know when she would be able to travel to London again, and so we agreed to accept her application and do our best to place her with one of our partners.

We ended up working until almost 10pm putting in calls, until we got a confirmation that she could start at one of our Designer partners the next day.

The day after she finished her program we got an email from the company telling us that she had been amazing, and that they were literally overwhelmed by how dedicated and hard-working she was. The same day I got an email full of photos from the young lady, showing her working at the shows, backstage with the models, and working on the dresses. She literally had had the most amazing experience, and was so grateful to have had the opportunity, which is the best feeling you can have knowing that you have helped someone realize their dream!
