Best Choice for Korea

My stay in Korea was amazing because of Korea Gap Year. From the first email, the entire staff at Korea Gap Year truly cares about providing you with the best experience possible. I had the privilege of having Bella coordinate my internship/Korean journey and she was fantastic in every way. The internship application process is more thorough than in similar programs meaning, your specific interests and needs are taken into consideration throughout the entire application process (I worked with other programs which were far more vague). In addition, after you are placed in an internship you get to select your housing from several options provided by Korea Gap Year. My housing location was great since it was very close to the subway and plenty of stores/restaurants. While in Korea Bella and Olivia would consistently check in on me and answer any questions I had regarding Korean living. Of course, my internship (in marketing) was perfect and exactly what I was looking for. My host company's staff were all very friendly even taking me out on several social activities. I cannot recommend Korea Gap Year enough and would suggest anyone still deciding to at least interview with them and I promise you will not be disappointed!

What an experience!

Finding an Internship in Korea can be easier with KoreaGapYear, especially as a student having a lot on my plate already. KoreaGapYear was recommended to me by one of my university's classmate students. And that's how my journey with KoreaGapYear began. I worked as a Digital Marketing Intern at KoreaGapYear, where I witnessed the team's ardent efforts to support individuals in achieving their aspirations and goals by offering Internships, Gap Years, Exchange Programs, and Language Programmes. KoreaGapYear is a great idea!

3 month internship in Seoul

I had such a great time with my environmental internship in Seoul! Korea GapYear really makes sure to match up your internship with not only an internship relating to your job perspectives, but also takes into account the personality and culture of the workplace. At first I was nervous because I have heard a lot about how strict the rules are in Korean offices, but luckily my company was so open and welcoming, and not only the workers, but the CEO speak comfortably and in a friendly manner, so I was excited to show up to the office everyday. Overall, if you are looking for an internship provider, KGY does a great job at finding a fitting one for you!

What would you improve about this program?
There were a few instances where the emails I would receive were not accurate and a little redundant. For example, asking for my passport information when I had already sent it to them, putting the wrong dates of my internship on one document but have it accurate on another one. Also a time I had them email me about hoping I am enjoying going out in Korea, even though I was still in quarantine, and also them saying they hope I am enjoying my last few weeks, although I had already left the country. These are very small details, but in the future, being more careful in their communication would make them seem more personable to future interns.

2 months Marketing Internship in Seoul

Many thanks to the lovely people at Korea Gap Year for making my dream of an internship in Korea come true! They quickly matched me with a company that was a great fit. I learned so much about Korean culture from my colleagues, and I spent the weekends exploring Seoul and traveling with my new-found friends. KGY messaged me regularly to make sure everything was going well. I feel like they genuinely wanted me to have an enjoyable stay and make many memories. If you're thinking about doing an internship in Korea, I highly recommend getting in touch with the amazing KGY team!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Everyone at the office was so welcoming and passionate about learning languages! So they started teaching me useful Korean expressions each day, and in return I taught them some German phrases. I remember coming home from work and surprising my Korean roommate with all the new words I learned.

So grateful for this opportunity

I am so happy to have found this opportunity for to get an internship in Korea! I wanted to do an internship in Korea for a longer time, however as a foreigner with limited Korean skills, it was nearly impossible for me to do so and also because of Covid it was extra difficult. So i am really glad that I stumbled upon Korea Gapyear, who made my wish reality. I can recommend Korea GapYear to anyone since it is a great opportunity for personal and educational growth and they support and help you along the way.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
That Koreans wear slippers in their office! In Germany office workers would wear the most uncomfortable shoes (like heels) just to look "professional". However in Korea it's about comfort so they change their shoes to slippers when they arrive in the office which I did as well and it was very comfortable

12 weeks internship

KGY is amazing! I completed my internship in a company in Seoul, which was very important for my university studies. Without KGY it would’ve been very hard to find an internship place during the stressful exam period I had prior to the internship period.
The communication with KGY went smoothly. Miss Olivia Ju who handled my case was very helpful, patient and very friendly from the beginning to the end! She even helped me to get in a language class so I would be able to acquire more necessary language skills needed to get around more easily.
After the internship period we got to visit the 경복궁 wearing 한복 which was amazing (see picture). I had no major difficulties and Korea is a very safe country!
In conclusion, I’d recommend KGY to anyone who would like great assistance for their internship in Korea ^^

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Look for a stay well in advance! Do a lot of research on the different aspects of the culture before coming and learn at least some survival Korean.

5 months internship at KGY

I've had my internship at Korea gapyear for 5 months.
All I can say is that they're very lovely and warm-hearted people. I'm so grateful for meeting them and be able to spend the last 5 months with them.
They always stood behind my back and were able to help, showed me all Korean things on a daily basis, tried teaching me Korean as much as they could and I'm very grateful for that.
I've learned so much on personal levels by being here, but it was always comforting to know that these people would always stand by me and try their best to help me.
They told me we're like family now and I'll miss them very much. But whenever im in Korea again, I'll surely come visit them many times:)

I can only be positive about them! I really really had a great time at Korea gapyear.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
When we found out that I LOVE kimchi jjigae, we made it a thing!
KIMCHI JJIGAE TUESDAYS were the best!
I will miss eating it with them and getting too overly excited on Tuesdays :)

My 2 month experience in South Korea

Hello everyone, so I spent two months in Seoul,South Korea for an internship at Africa Insight. These two months were amazing! I have met so many people from all around the world. I have discovered a lot about working in an office but I also got to help organize the Seoul Africa Festival and I have been invited to important events in fancy hotels in Seoul.

During these two months I had the chance to visit so many places like palaces, themed park, traditional markets, rooftops, cute streets and cafes, even a huge music festival!
To sum up I fell in love with the korean culture and its people!!
If I had to do it again I wouldn't change anything at all.

Thank you to Korea Gap Year and especially Olivia and Youjin for making this possible for me and making this life experience an amazing one!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I think it was when I got invited to dinner by the Gabonese Ambassy here in Seoul with all the very important people! But also when I saw living octopus for people to eat but I did not try it aha.
