Great experience

Best experience I had in university. I would recommend to anyone. The abbey is great. The teachers and staff are great. The work load is strenuous but you will have plenty if time to travel and enjoy your self. The history of the abbey is really neat and the grounds are huge to explore or relax. The town is sleepy but safe with a few pubs to enjoy but Banbury is a short ride away to the mall or supermarket, resteraunts, etc. Lot of public transportation its easy to travel all over Europe. I took many trips to different countries plus they took us on many cool excursions.

Wroxton

All British faculty, tea breaks in the middle of class with professors, British tutorial system that leaves no one behind and demands your best.. not to mention living in what is basically Downton Abbey make this program life changing.

And that doesn’t count the trips to Parliament, the Royal Shakespeare Company Theater, Paris, and many other wonderful places.

I found my best friends there, learned more deeply than I had before and when things are challenging in life I think back on my time there and that gives me strength to push on.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Hearing on day one exactly when all my papers and exams world be due and knowing no excuse would be accepted.

One of the most wonderful experiences of my life

I attended Wroxton College, owned by Fairleigh Dickinson University, living in Wroxton Abbey, with 44 other students in the spring of 1968. It was a difficult time when the Vietnam War was raging. Wroxton was a safe, calm island for us, we bonded quickly and have stayed bonded over 52 years. Being a short drive from Stratford, we attended Shakespeare's plays performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. We met experts from the Shakespeare Institute who came to Wroxton for lectures, along with experts in British literature, politics, education, history...and traveled to castles and historic sites. Over the years, we've stayed in touch with the college, had reunions there and can attest to how the Dean, professors and staff care so much about the students. Today's programs include what we studied and much, much more. It was the most remarkable, wonderful semester. And I know that students over the years have had the same experiences. I highly recommend the College.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Hard to pin one down. We were an imaginative group with a student-produced newsletter, an in-house student photographer and a student (later becoming a well-known singer) who led us in song most nights at the local pub. We traveled on weekends to Ireland, Scotland, Europe. We had a May day celebration on the back lawn with a real Maypole. We had fun, we studied hard and learned so much about England, the British and life in general.

Fabulous Wroxton College-best time EVER!

I studied both undergrad and graduate school at Wroxton. Life changing experiences. Life long friendships. Best experience at school hands down. Everyone should put this on their bucket list. Super education and support. Live and study in a 700 year old Abby—like nothing you’ve ever experienced in your life. Can’t say enough good things about Wroxton College. Even named one of my dogs after the school! Travel the countryside and the rest of the UK and Europe to broaden your adventure. You won’t be sorry.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go do it. You won’t regret it for a heartbeat. This is a total lifestyle change in terms of living and learning.

Crown Jewel of FDUs Portfolio

Wroxton represents the very best of Study Abroad programs. My time at Wroxton has provided me a once in-a-lifetime to truly embed myself in a foreign culture. I attended in Spring of 2004 and still keep in touch with many of the friend and contacts I made on the beautiful campus of Wroxton. Being able to live and study in this historical Abby should be on everyone’s bucket-list. My biggest regret was not taking advantage of the local community and the chance to build relationships with locals (we tended to be a insular group). Highly recommend attending this program both for FDU and Non-FDU students. Successful alumni network of Wroxtonites.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Explore! Time flies during a semester at Wroxton. Take time to bond with your classmates and folks in the local community. Travel on as many of the structured tours/events as possible. Try something out of your comfort zone.

Wroxton College - 3 Generations Attended

In the spring semester of 1985, I was the 3rd generation in my family to attend Wroxton. Each of us had our own experiences; truth be told, mine was the best. To have the opportunity to live and study abroad in a 17th-century Jacobean mansion with acres of plush lawns, lakes, woodlands, and a rich history was a privilege and honor. The format for learning was great! It included lectures, seminars and tutorials; the professors left such a positive impact on me; on Wednesdays, we would go to the quaint market in Banbury to buy essentials; the staff would always have awesome trips planned for weekends and holidays so that we could fully embrace the culture and “Wroxton Experience”. As a 3rd Generation of the Wroxton Family – it’s an education of a lifetime. Cassie S.

What was your funniest moment?
Every day with the "Madison 5 + 1", but one in particular was when they were the "lookout" for me as I hid in the backseat of a car to attend the theater and dinner with someone I took a liking to when we first met.

The best thing about FDU was the chance to go to Wroxton

Wroxton was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was also one of the main selling points of going to FDU and joining their Theater program. It's a shame that FDU would be willing to sell this beautiful and historical property that has created so many life long memories for their students. It's been a goal of mine to always go back and visit and stay over for a few days. The teachers and staff were honestly better than most of the teachers at FDU. I hope to see this amazing place once again!

Unforgettable Experience

Wroxton was by far the best part of my time at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Wroxton allowed me to get out of my comfort zone, meet new people, create new friendships, challenge myself academically, visit 7 different countries, and have a place to call home during the Spring 2017 semester. I think about my time studying abroad at Wroxton College every single day and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend a semester there. To any current students or prospective students thinking about studying abroad at Wroxton - do it, you won’t regret it.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would travel more and stress a little less about academics. The classes are by no means easy - but whenever I had a question the professors were always ready to help and they truly wanted to see every student succeed while also enjoying their time abroad.
