A Deep Dive into Gum Health!

I never thought I would be so fascinated by gum disease treatments, but this program completely changed my perspective! I shadowed periodontal treatments and learned how gum health affects overall dental health. The dentists were super friendly and explained everything in detail. The small student groups meant we got to ask tons of questions and really understand the procedures.Athens was a dream come true. The Parthenon was even more impressive in real life, and I loved exploring the streets of Plaka, the old town area. The metro was an adventure—sometimes we had no idea where we were going, but that was part of the fun!

Pros
  • Hands-on experience with periodontal treatments

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Learning Experience!

This program gave me the best experience of my life! I was lucky to shadow pediatric dentistry, which was both fun and challenging. Seeing how dentists keep kids calm and entertained while working on their teeth was fascinating. I now have so much respect for pediatric specialists! The clinics were so modern, with technology I had never seen before. Athens itself was breathtaking. The tour of the Ancient Agora and the Temple of Hephaestus made me feel like I was living in a history book. The metro was surprisingly easy to use, but we still got lost at least twice a day.

Pros
  • Learned how to work with children in dentistry

An Eye-Opening Experience

I always knew I wanted to work in dentistry, but this program made me even more passionate! I shadowed emergency dental care cases, which was super intense but also exciting. Watching the dentists handle urgent cases with such calmness and skill was inspiring. The 1 and 1 student-to-doctor made it easy to ask questions, and I never felt lost.

Our trip to the Acropolis Museum was unforgettable. And let’s not forget the food—Greek salads are so much better than what we get at home! Athens is such a great city.

A Dream Come True for a Future Dentist!

Athens is one of the most stunning cities I have ever visited! The Philotimo Dental Program was a perfect balance between learning and exploring. I had the opportunity to shadow teeth whitening and cosmetic dentistry procedures, and it was incredible to see how small changes can make a huge difference in a patient’s smile. The doctors spoke excellent English, and they explained every step of the process in detail.

The Acropolis tour was like stepping into a time machine. I couldn’t believe I was standing in the same place where ancient philosophers once walked. The metro rides were fun, but we definitely got lost a couple of times

What was your funniest moment?
I tried to say “thank you” in Greek, but I completely butchered it, and the lady at the bakery just laughed and gave me an extra pastry!
Pros
  • Learned about cosmetic procedures up close
  • The program was well-organized and structured

The Most Unique Study Abroad Experience!

I joined the Philotimo Dental Program hoping to gain clinical experience, but I got so much more! I shadowed orthodontic treatments like Invisalign and braces adjustments. It was fascinating to see how patient care differs across cultures.

Director Stavros was a true leader, making sure everyone felt safe, comfortable, and excited to learn. The program structure was perfect—we had mornings in the hospital, afternoons exploring, and evenings for fun! The Acropolis tour at sunset was magical, and I’ll never forget sitting by the Parthenon, soaking in the view of Athens. The food, the culture, and the friendships I made made this an unforgettable trip.

Pros
  • Small groups
  • Athens is stunning, every street looks like a postcard

The Most Incredible Experience in Greece!

Athens is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and I can’t believe I got to shadow amazing dentists while experiencing it! The Philotimo Dental Program was beyond my expectations. I observed dental veneers and smile makeovers, which made me even more excited about my future in dentistry.

The 1:1 ratio with doctors meant we had plenty of time to ask questions. Plus, the clinic was ultra-modern, with technology I had never seen before.

Our tour of Athens was unforgettable—walking through the Agora, the Acropolis, and Syntagma Square felt like stepping back in time. I also had my first Greek metro ride—efficient but super crowded during rush hour!

Learning, Adventure, and Greek Hospitality!

Before this trip, I had never traveled outside the U.S., so I was nervous and excited. But from the second I met the Philotimo Med Abroad team, I felt at home. The program was incredibly organized and structured, but we also had enough free time to explore.

I shadowed dental prosthetics and crowns and even got to observe how 3D printing is used in modern dentistry! The dentists were all fluent in English, patient, and made sure we understood what was happening. One of my favorite parts of the trip was riding the metro—it was fast, clean, and way better than what I’m used to in the U.S.! The guided tour to the Acropolis Museum and Hadrian’s Arch made me feel like I was in an ancient civilization.

What was your funniest moment?
A waiter asked if we wanted more tzatziki, and we said “just a little”… He brought a WHOLE BOWL
Pros
  • reek hospitality is unmatched—everyone is so friendly!
Cons
  • Trying to learn a few Greek words was a challenge, but fun!

The Best Decision I’ve Ever Made!

I was a little nervous before coming to Greece, but Philotimo Med Abroad made me feel safe, welcomed, and supported from day one. Director Stavros is like a mix of a big brother and a responsible mentor—he made sure we were all comfortable but also pushed us to be independent. I got to shadow root canals and digital impressions, and I was amazed at how advanced and modern the equipment was. The clinic, nothing like I expected! The small group size meant we got personalized attention and a real chance to engage with the dentists. The tour to the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus felt like walking through a history book. And let’s talk about the Greek food—I could eat souvlaki every day for the rest of my life!

What was your funniest moment?
We got lost in the Plaka neighborhood and accidentally joined a Greek wedding procession. People thought we were guests and started handing us drinks!
Pros
  • One-on-one mentorship from experienced dentists
