About Program

This summer program combines coursework with experiential learning opportunities for students of all skill levels. All students take Ireland Onscreen, which covers the development, themes and key issues of contemporary Irish cinema. Students will also choose to enroll in a course on screenwriting or on digital filmmaking. Coursework takes place in Dún Laoghaire, just outside of Dublin, which is home to the IADT, the National Film School of Ireland. Living with a local host family and having access to the labs and technology of the IADT make this a special program that is complemented with cultural excursions, field activities such as location shooting, and a weekend trip to the Galway Film Fleadh (Festival), one of Ireland's most important film festivals.

Exploring Ireland

My favorite part of this program was definitely the excursions. From visiting Kilmainhaim Gaol (jail) to hiking Glendalough, every place we visited was breathtaking. For one of the weekends, we went to the west coast of Ireland and stayed in Galway, Ireland for three nights. There, we went to the Galway Film Fleadh (Film Festival) and ate the most amazing seafood. This was hands down the best study abroad experience ever.
