Pleasantly surprised and highly recommended!

I was skeptical going into this program as I had read reviews online that English teaching programs are not worthwhile or below standard except the top tier ones like Cambridge which cost a lot of money. I can tell you the TEFL course is NOT a "pushover" course. I've taken two of their courses. They are well structured and very educational. You will need to put in the time and concentration to pass it, but well worthwhile. The customer support service is excellent as is the exam tutor feedback. Overall, you're getting a very well structured course, excellent support, very well made online site with great UX and knowledge you'll be able to utilize right away.

Happy!!!

I'm very happy with the course! It was comprehensive, covered many different areas of teaching, and consisted of a good balance of different activities (text, videos, interactive activities, tests etc). The self-paced timing allowed me to study whenever I could, and in the end, I completed the course in less than 3 months. The course also offered technical support and student support but I'd never had any questions to either of them.

Thank you! I feel much more confident and equipped with all the necessary knowledge to start my teaching journey 😄

Great for independent and self-guided learning

Although I never had the need to use support on TEFL Academy, I found the material clearly structured and easy to navigate! I recommend this course for individuals who are motivated to complete TEFL - as the self-paced learning means you can finish it within a matter of weeks!

I took my time and enjoyed the additional reading - ultimately using up the full six months :) This is also great if you're not only motivated, but interested in the content as it relates to linguistics! Really enjoyed my experience,

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Waiting to receive my results on assessments! Thankfully it was quick, and I passed!
Pros
  • Independence
  • Interesting content on English language
  • Additional materials

It was absolutely incredible

My TEFL experience was nothing short of incredible and life-changing. Teaching English as a foreign language opened my eyes to the beauty of cross-cultural communication and the power of education. Every class was a unique adventure, filled with enthusiasm, curiosity, and growth. My students were remarkable, bringing diverse perspectives, determination, and an eagerness to learn that made every lesson deeply rewarding. Watching them grasp new concepts, gain confidence, and express themselves in English was an indescribable joy. The classroom was always alive with energy, laughter, and meaningful exchanges that went far beyond just language learning. The challenge of adapting lessons to different learning styles pushed me to be more creative and resourceful, making me a stronger and more empathetic educator. I built lasting connections with students and fellow teachers, creating a network of shared experiences and mutual learning. The opportunity to inspire and be inspired daily was an absolute privilege, and it reinforced my passion for teaching. TEFL not only allowed me to make a tangible impact on others’ lives but also transformed me in ways I never expected. It was a truly remarkable journey—one that I will always treasure.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
People should take TEFL seriously and recognize the value of the education they received in school. Language is a powerful tool that shapes communication, opportunities, and connections. Learning English as a foreign language is not just about memorizing words—it’s about opening doors to a globalized world. Those who underestimate TEFL fail to see its impact on students striving for a better future. Teaching requires dedication, patience, and responsibility. Educators shape lives, and students depend on them to succeed. Taking TEFL lightly disrespects the effort behind education and the dreams of those eager to learn. It should never be a joke.

Pros
  • Improvement on English
  • Helping others with English
  • Being a teacher and showing how you care about others
Cons
  • The marking takes long
  • If you are older than 22 you may struggle with the 8 parts of speech
  • Exams are stressful

Very happy with the course

I found this course to be challenging and engaging! I really enjoyed it, and I learnt a whole lot that will be incredibly useful in my career. I'm also so grateful for the information and suggestions for finding a placement. There was plenty of information to support you as you prepare the assignments, and i particularly appreciated the "How are assignments assessed" section as it gives you a really good overview of what is expected and how you can get those extra points. The marking time was really fast, I seldom waited more than 3 days to get my results, and there was always loads of encouragement and helpful advice.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't hesitate! You won't regret it.
Pros
  • Quality information
  • Quick responses form the teaching and admin team
  • Lots of support and information for the assignments
Cons
  • It's easy to procrastinate and lose track of time
  • Copy leaks is stopped by some firewalls so it can be a bit frustrating
  • It would be wonderful to have an opportunity to sit in on an actual lesson for training experience.

TEFL EXPERIENCE

The experience was amazing, and I gained a lot of knowledge, and I have recommended TEFL to a few people as well.

I would just have liked to get more help with job searching

Taking a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course is an excellent opportunity for those who want to teach English abroad or online. I recently completed a Level 5 TEFL course, and I can confidently say that it was an enriching and well-structured program

The TEFL course I completed was a 168-hour Level 5 qualification, which is Ofqual-regulated and internationally recognized. The course was divided into multiple modules, covering essential topics such as lesson planning, classroom management, teaching grammar, pronunciation, and the four key language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

One of the highlights of the course was the lesson planning and material development module. This section helped me understand how to create engaging and structured lessons for students at different proficiency levels (A1-C2). I particularly enjoyed learning how to adapt teaching materials for both in-person and online classes, ensuring that lessons remain interactive and effective.

One of the advantages of this TEFL course was its self-paced structure, allowing me to study at my convenience. The platform was user-friendly, and the content was engaging, with a mix of text, videos, quizzes, and interactive exercises to reinforce learning.

For those who may need extra support, tutor assistance was available, providing guidance and answering questions throughout the course. The feedback on assignments was constructive and helped improve my understanding of key concepts.

Overall, my experience with the TEFL course was highly positive. The content was comprehensive, the flexibility suited my schedule, and the certification has opened many doors for teaching opportunities. Whether you’re looking to teach English abroad, online, or gain valuable skills for a career in education, this TEFL course is a fantastic choice. I highly recommend it to anyone passionate about teaching and language learning!

Cons
  • Cultural and Language Barriers
  • Job Stability can be uncertain
  • Quality Varies

Highly recommend

I completed the Level 5 combined course and managed to complete the online portion in under a month as I had enough time to dedicate towards it. I'm extremely happy with the course content and it's quality. The assessments were challenging but not too difficult and the tutor feedback was always quick and provided useful advice I could put into practice. The in-person classroom portion was delivered by a gentleman named Ian who I can't thank enough for making the class engaging and much to learn from. I'm very happy to The TEFL Academy and will seek job assistance when I have graduated.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Delivering a lesson in front of the class was a little daunting but it was easy to overcome the nerves through the support off my peers and the instructor. I had to take advantage of the opportunity so I could really get a feel of what delivering lessons in actual practice would be like
Pros
  • Informative
  • Engaging
  • Meeting like-minded individuals
Cons
  • Long day
