The Road2Argentina Volunteer in Argentina program is designed for people looking for an opportunity to help others in Argentina and improve their Spanish skills in an immersion environment. Our program places volunteers at local non-profit organizations, where you will assist in a variety of ongoing projects.

Great internships and a great location!

I absolutely loved volunteering with the Buenos Aires Zoo through Road2Argentina. The internship placement was perfect for me since it combined conservation work, hands on activities, and a friendly and casual environment. I worked with the condors of the Condor Conservation Program every day, helping to feed and care for them while learning a lot about managing a conservation program. At night, Road2Argentina offered some great events and opportunities to get to know the other students and staff. Everyone was friendly and lively and I had a lot of fun watching tango, battling it out in trivia nights, and visiting cool places. Best summer ever!

Lots of opportunity and tons of support!

My experience with Road2Argentina was absolutely fantastic! The program is ran by peer-aged professionals with lots of options for day trips and social activities.

The impact from this program was amazing!

What would you improve about this program?
My only improvement is that, while I am about 10 years older than the majority of the other interns, social activities could have been made a bit more age-mixed. The activities were split between various interests and activities, but at times, I let my age get the best of me in social settings.

Do you have to know Spanish to volunteer? Also what is the minimum age to volunteer?

Thanks for your questions and interest in our programs, Finlay! To answer your questions, 18 is the minimum age to volunteer in our program (although we have made some exceptions in the past for students so we still encourage you to apply), and we have volunteering placements for Spanish speakers of all levels!

What is your favorite travel memory?

My best memories of a trip are from my cycling adventure through South America in 2016. I traveled on my own for 4 months around Peru and Ecuador, camping on the beach, meeting many local people and enjoying the best fish dishes in the zone. It was an exciting adventure and I learned to live only with the essentials.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Since working on Road2Argentina, I was able to combine many things I love: meeting people from other countries and different cultures, being able to show them the fabulous city of Buenos Aires and striving day by day to create the best possible experience, finding new places, discovering fantastic companies and NGOs. And enjoying what I do.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

The best story I heard without a doubt was that of one (already a great friend) of England, who fell in love with Buenos Aires and Argentina itself, who decided to return in a year, and live here for a while and probably also join the Road team! I believe that on each trip, the real magic happens when we are willing to leave the comfort zone and get into the unknown.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose the Internship Program without thinking twice. A great way to get into the culture of a big city and country is to be able to share things day by day with local people, in different contexts: work, culture, outings. This program allows all that and much more. In a few days, you will find yourself speaking in Spanish with coworkers, friendly people in a bar and even with your own host. That combination is what I think will allow you to take a rich and complete picture of what is Buenos Aires and Argentina.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I am completely sure that this company is unique to the people who are part of it, and how much each of us loves what he does on Road. Through the experience of having lived 10 years in the city, what makes us unique is to be able to know and show all those places, attractions, expressions, situations that are distant from someone who has not spent time here. Our focus is to be able to offer a 100% personalized experience and try to make the weeks here the best in those people's lives.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I think the most important factor is to love what one does and be constant. I believe that only by being truly happy in what one does every day, and striving with a passion to give everything, can a totally unique experience be offered, can one stay in the best memories of a person for life. Love + Constancy + Pasion is my favorite formula.
