Amazing

This was the first time I’ve worked in the fashion industry, and I am so glad I was able to be exposed to something so new, and have a great time while doing so. I was able to learn a lot more about my interests through work, as well as travels with my roommates and the group. My advisors Antonella and Amanda were so accommodating to all of my needs, and I felt extremely supported throughout my whole program. It was great knowing that they were only a text away and ready to help me with anything I needed.

The advisors were extremely helpful to assist with anything you may need. If you’re thinking about studying abroad through global experiences, DO IT! My summer went by so fast! I was nervous and scared coming into the program but by day 1 I was already extremely comfortable with the whole situation! So thankful i made the decision to go to Milan!

My Experience Was Amazing

My experience in Milan was nothing short of phenomenal. The program/trip itself was great but the best part had to be the friends I made. Everyone is so kind, warm, and welcoming. Whether I see them again or not (and I hope I do see at least some of them again) they will always hold a special place in my heart. Additionally, experiencing many different aspects of the culture of Italy was amazing, whether it be eating truly authentic Italian food, learning the language, looking at art, or learning about the history of the country.

Pros
  • I made so many friends.
  • I got to try authentic Italian food.
  • I got to build my resume by gaining hands on intern experience and networking.
Cons
  • No AC in the apartment + High humidity outside = an atrociously stuffy apartment
  • Culture shock
  • One of my roomates did not take responsibility for his messes.

Exciting experience

I love the city of Milan, I was here for 2 months and still didn’t get a chance to do everything. There’s so much to do in Milan but my favorite part was meeting people from all around the world even others in the program. I’m a “foodie” so being in a city like Milan made trying new food so simple, every street has something unique on it and the food is amazing almost everywhere. Global experiences made everything easy on us which I’m grateful for. It was truly an amazing experience I would recommend this trip to anyone and I would do it again.

An amazing experience!

I was exposed to the fashion industry. This is something new to me, and I am so grateful for the efforts the advisors made to help me find this position. As long as you are vocal about what you are looking for, that is what counts the most. The more specific I was and the detailed feed back I gave to them after my interviews allowed them to find the BEST option for me. Apart from the job, I genuinely cannot say I have had an experience like this. I met new people, I got to know a new culture, I was allowed to travel on my free time, and ate some very good food!!

Summer Abroad!

I had a great experience this summer in Milan. From my internship, the friendships I made, and the advisors we had, everything was perfect. I learned so much about myself this summer through living on my own in a foreign country. It got hard at times when I was home sick but it was super easy to book a trip and get out of the funk. I learned a lot during my internship that I will be able to apply to other jobs back in America. Overall my favorite part of this experience is the relationships I made with those around me!

Pros
  • The friends I made
  • How easy it is to travel
  • Personal growth
Cons
  • No air conditioning
  • Unpaid internships
  • Expensive

Amazing and memorable

This experience has been really great. I loved the first two weeks of the Italian language crash course. I wish we had more classes. My internship took some getting used to but that was a given. Once I settled in more, I became more comfortable in the workplace and with my coworkers. Our Location Coordinators were absolutely wonderful. They gave us so much advice and made the group events a blast. They made the experience so enjoyable and made the whole process of coming to Milan and finding our way much easier.

Pros
  • Fun group events
  • Easy to travel to other cities in Italy
  • Meet a lot of new people
Cons
  • Didn't learn quite enough Italian to have a basic conversation

It is not essential to speak Italian in order to participate in the Milan program. The majority of our interns who have attended the programs in Italy did not speak any Italy. While the majority of our placements in Milan are in English, we encourage that interns familiarize themselves with some of the Italian basics they learn in their language classes. Hope this helps!
