Important information for Non-european students

In general, not only the content of this internship was wonderful, but also Lucia and Lalita were always helpful during the process. Based on my experience, three points are remarkable.

① One of the most important thing that I have hardly seen in others' review, is that TIG can help you arrange the graduation internship required by some European University, which usually requires a third-party contract (you, internship company, and university). This is incredibly useful for some students to conduct international internship without working permit. I deeply remembered how helpless I was in the beginning when I searched for international internship as a non-European student at my university. But anyway, TIG help me make it possible.

② You should always take the initiative to reach out to different team-mates, not only because you might work in a very different culture, but also you probably can't Spanish in the beginning. If you are open and professional enough, your colleagues will be more than willing to help you.

③ You should know what's your priority during this internship. I know some people just want to have some international experience. My priority is to utilise this internship to achieve my academic goal (writing a sound paper) and professional goal (worked on a digitalisation project for a large captive company). So I don't pay a lot of attention to socialisation :(

Great city, even better people!

I have fallen in love with Madrid in the 6 months I have been here! There have been tonnes of organised events to get involved with and the TIG Madrid Team can never do enough to help you in any way they can.

Madrid is a young and vibrant city especially during university term times (Sep - Jul). There are also fewer English speakers compared to tourist hotspots like Málaga or Barcelona, so there is ample opportunity to practice and improve your Spanish.

From the bustling Puerta de Sol to the peaceful Retiro and everything in-between, Madrid has something for everyone!

Madrid Internship

Choosing to do an internship in Madrid is one of the best decisions that I have made. I did a 6-week internship and my only regret is not doing it for longer! I was given the opportunity to really immerse myself in the company and I even got invited to attend an exciting company event. I have not only gained key industry experience but I have experienced huge personal growth. I am so thankful to the Intern Group program team in Madrid as they supported me throughout the program and made me comfortable during my time there. There were lots of fun organised activities every week which allowed me to meet new friends and expand my network with people from around the world. Madrid is an amazing city and I would definitely recommend the program to anyone wanting a new adventure!

Madrid internship

I couldn't wait to go to Spain for my internship. I was part of the digital nomad program, which means I did all the work remotely and I had the opportunity to do it in a city I really wanted to visit. I spent a lot of time learning Spanish in order to prepare for my visit and I wasn't disappointed. I experienced new cultures, new food, new adventures but also new friendships. My internship was very interesting on its own as I got to work with a company that I loved and that taught me so many things. If I got the opportunity I would do it all over again. I thank the Intern group - Madrid program for their quick response each time I had an inquiry, Lalita and Lucia were very helpful and made the experience even more enjoyable. Hala Madrid!

Pros
  • Tourism
  • Experience new food
  • Meet new People
Cons
  • It can be extremely hot depending on the season you visit but its still beautiful
  • If you dont speak a little bit of spanish it can be difficult, not everyone speaks english or french

Internship in Madrid

Living and working inMadrid was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I had the most incredible time working during my internship and met amazing people along the way. This program not only pushed me to get out of my comfort zones and grow but also have the best time while doing so. Would definitely recommend if you are thinking about working abroad! The Madrid program also offered fun meet ups to get to know other interns and explore a few cities around Madrid which was very helpful in getting to know our new city.

Environmental protection

I had such a great time doing the internship last year and made so many great memories and learned so much. Everyone I talked to to get into the program was very helpful. The trips and events that the program had were always a lot of fun. I got to research environmental protection impacts and see if they could be implemented around Spain. It was a learning experience to be able to work with so many people with different backgrounds. I am currently working full time for an environmental construction company using what I learned in Madrid in my workplace.

Madrid Internship

I loved everything about the program. As an international student, I was so nervous about my arrival and meeting new people. But everything about it was great, I feel like I’ll never forget this experience and I am so thankful for the amazing relationships that I made. I learned so many things and Madrid is one of the best cities in the world. I recommend this program without any doubts, and if I could, I would repeat it a thousand times. Eternally grateful for the opportunity and the experience that I gained! <3

Questions & Answers

Hi Verica! Whether these internships are paid or not is down to each specific placement company! However, their international internships do tend to be unpaid.

Hiya, Living situation wasn't bad at all, your usually with other interns. When I first got there I was a bit surprised at the flat as I thought it was going to be more like a uni halls or something, but the decor is quite dark and relatively small. Also had an oven that you had to light yourself which was an experience! Haha. But you get used to it really quickly and I loved my flat by the end. I...

I was in Madrid for two months and had prepared about €1600. I did budget and because I was very careful with money at the start I had quite a bit left over towards the end. It also depends on how much you eat out because that does get quite expensive.
