Excellent service

Korean Horizons was extremely helpful with my Epik applications. There were many difficulties that arose due to COVID-19, however Alistair handled them with care and was able to assist me on every step along the way. Alistair did a great job of preparing me for Epik and made me feel confident. His guidance along the way made me feel reassured. I am satisfied with my job and placement. South Korea is amazing and has been so welcoming. I am grateful for Alistairs assistance and would definitely recommend that you apply through Korean Horizons.

Highly recommended and reliable recruitment agency

If you apply to teach in South Korea with Korean Horizons you'll be in very safe and knowledgable hands. Alistair guides you thoroughly through each and every step of the application process and is always on hand to answer any questions. His experience allows him to solidly prepare you for every eventuality, really strengthening your application and highly increasing your chances of a successful interview. Alistair also doesn't just forget about you once you've arrived in Korea, but provides in-country support, help and advice where he can as well. I believe applying through Korean Horizons was a great factor in my successful application and would highly recommend this recruiter to anyone looking to teach in South Korea, whether or not they feel they need the extra support as Alistair's expertise would be of value to any applicant.

Korean Horizons

I had asked around from a few people that I knew had already gone to Korea to teach, which recruitment agencies they used and I heard about all the usual agencies but was recommended to use Korean Horizons, even by people who did not use them but went with other agencies. Everyone had good things to say about Alistair, most importantly, his commitment, professionalism and support throughout the process of applying.
As someone who had to apply twice due to covid-19 complications closing down borders, Alistair made the process of reapplying and interviewing as easy as possible. Much can be said for his attention to detail, which is sure to set you apart from the other applicants. If wanting to apply to teach in Korea, Alistair is who I would recommend to everyone, every time.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be as flexible as possible. The way you live your life in your home country is nothing like living and working in South Korea. Make sure that you are flexible with whatever comes your way and be able to make compromises.

Such a relief

I am honestly so relieved that I applied to EPIK through Korean Horizons.
The process of applying to teach abroad is one that requires a lot of patience and attention to detail. As a first time applicant, I initially had concerns about how well I would be able to gather and submit evidence, complete all the tasks required, and undergo the interview once I had reached those stages (especially in a pandemic). As soon as I began applying through Korean Horizons, Alistair began to break down all of these stages and their requirements in detail. This included what was required of me as a person from the UK specifically.
If I ever had any questions or concerns these were immediately straightened out and every thing I submitted was double checked by Alistair too.
I was kept up to date with the progression of each stage and with any changes due to the pandemic also.
Overall, I am super glad that I chose to do this journey with Korean Horizons and I have met many others since my arrival to Korea, who share the same experience as me.

Korean Horizons (Thumbs Up!)

I tried thinking of a reason to not give Korean Horizons a 10/10 but I couldn’t really think of a legitimate reason. More so than being supportive in a massive life change, Alistair helps with the ease of the transition at every step. Other recruitment agencies had issues that I did not face with Korean Horizons. Communication was on point, and I felt more comfortable with my move in comparison to if I opted to apply directly. Thank you, Alistair! I highly recommend Korean Horizons. I look forward to my new adventure here!

What was your funniest moment?
It was a great experience to practice our English teaching in front of our class at orientation. We had to be in the moment and not break character while attempting to teaching English teachers about our given lesson. We had a lot of laughs with it!

KH are an indispensable resource for applying to EPIK

With nothing more than a TEFL certificate and a rough idea of where I wanted to go, moving to Korea seemed like an entire world away when I first contacted Alistair - but I'm now typing from my apartment in Daegu, after a weekend of exploring the city.

From the get-go, Alistair was professional, reliable and, most importantly for me, realistic. He was able to answer any questions I had, offer me advice and direction, and was crucial for such a daunting application process. When my application got deferred due to Covid19, Alistair kept in touch and kept the ball rolling for me, alleviating a lot of the stress that could have come from it.

He guides you through the application process, from lesson planning to interviewing, which was super helpful for me. He's incredibly thorough, and makes sure that you're at your best when you finally come face to face with EPIK.

I wholeheartedly believe that Korean Horizons are the best recruiter for EPIK. I have zero regrets about using their service, and I highly doubt any future applicants would either. Go for it!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The interview! I was convinced I had flunked it - but thankfully I hadn't, and even ended up in my desired location! Alistair's guidance was essential for the interview.

Super helpful if you have no idea where/how to start

If you're bad at admin (like I am) and want to teach abroad but have no idea what documents you need/where to start applying/when the deadlines are etc Alistair will REALLY walk you through every step of the process. He'll give you a timeline, what docs you need, which companies you need to get your docs certified in your country and help with your submissions, interview and any other questions.
I'm the kind of person who doesn't like bothering people if I think it's unnecessary but Alistair continuously reached out to me first to ensure I was okay at every stage of the process. You could do all the hard work on finding out what you need and submitting it on your own but honestly why would you want to? He'll find everything you need, saving you SO much hassle and you'll be able to interact with other people also in the same program so you're never alone.

Go with Korean Horizons-you won’t regret it!

Right from the start of my application to KH to now being in Korea teaching with EPIK, Alistair from KH has been an incredible support system, without whom I don’t know if I would have actually made it to Korea. His help and guidance throughout the entire EPIK application process has been invaluable and has made this difficult process so much easier! He constantly keeps you updated and replies so quickly I don’t actually think he sleeps! Apply through Korean Horizons-it’s 100% the right decision

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
100% my EPIK interview but KH made me so prepared!

Questions & Answers

All of the positions we provide are full-time 12 month fixed term contracts. It's possible to renew each year.

Teaching experience is not required. 98% of all new teachers have no prior teaching experience. To apply, you need to have a bachelor. You need to have the commitment to complete the TEFL by your start date and you can apply without one. Hope that this information is useful.

Hey Paul - we did some research and it looks like the salary is controlled by the government, and there are pay grades. Appreciate the question, surely others are wondering too
