Great experience

I have only good things to say about my process applying to teach in Korea through Korean Horizons and particularly working with Alistair. He is very thorough, supportive, and works nonstop to help you along the way. His advice for the interview was invaluable. And even now he checks in to see how I am doing. There was a lot of paperwork to complete so it was nice having someone to work with and make sure I was on track. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience and am loving my job/life here in Korea!

Pros
  • Tireless work on Alistair's part helping me get the job

Highly Recommend Korean Horizons!

Korean Horizons go above and beyond! I can't express enough on how helpful they have been. I don't think I would have made it without them!

I would definitely recommend Korean Horizons to anyone who wants to teach in South Korea. As the process can be very confusing and stressful especially when it came to all the documents for the interview and visa, but Alistair has been amazing from the start. Always answering my questions promptly and helped me throughout the process.

I 100% recommend Korean Horizons!

Alistair is awesome!!!

Alistair (Korean Horizons) is the best recruiter you could go through for applying to EPIK!!! He knows everything about the program and coaches you through the application and interview. He makes sure that you have everything you need and gives great recommendations. I felt so much more secure going through the application process because Alistair was my recruiter. He helps you sooooooo much and makes sure you don’t get lost in the process. I can’t imagine how stressful it was to apply without a recruiter. Definitely go with Alistair. 10/10

Amazing

Wow Alistair is an actual saving grace to all of us. When other people were stressing about placements, information, other recruiters and even EPIK themselves not responding to them for days on end, Alistair ALWAYS responded within a day. Even whilst here in Korea he is still reaching out to us to make sure we are okay. To have peace of mind I promise you Korean Horizons is THE best recruitment agency and so many of us passed because of them. I highly doubt I would be here without them. Amazing company, Alistair is amazing and I hope everyone reading this can succeed and get to Korea through Korean Horizons! You can all do it 😊

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Most nervewrecking was going to my schools. But all of the teachers are lovely and welcoming.

The Best Decision I Have Ever Made

Wow, where do I begin?

From the moment I was considering teaching in Korea, by sending one simple email of interest, Alistair responded promptly. He arranged a phone call for more clarification, and from there, I knew I would be in good hands.

I am the first person in my family to work abroad. However, Alistair had all of the tips and answers to my questions regarding documents, moving, teaching, etc.
His interview prep was excellent. I felt so confident during my interview (even though it was at 2:00am my time, haha). Once I passed my interview, he was prompt and accurate with any updates about my placement, quarantine, and life in Korea.

When I landed in Korea, I encountered a problem. With just one Kakao message, Alistair was able to help me fix it.

I can 100% say, moving to Korea with the help of Korean Horizons was the best recruitment company to choose, and best decision of my life for my career.

From his personalized emails, to his check-ins, and intro package, I am forever grateful for the support of Alistair.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
A few days before my departure to Korea, I experienced impostor syndrome. "Am I really doing this?" "Korea is so far away." "Do I have what it takes to be a good teacher?"

It was no coincidence that Alistair soon after sent an email entitled "To Korea" with loads of helpful information, that gave me the confirmation I needed that I have amazing support, and that I CAN do this.

Highly reccomend

I would recommend Korean Horizons to anyone who's looking to teach ESL in Korea!. Alistair helped me with the process and was proactive in trying to acquire all the necessary documentation ahead of time. Anytime my group and I had questions, he would always reply in a timely manner. Alistair always made sure to check on us if we weren't responding to his emails which also served as a very considerate and polite reminder. To think that I would've applied directly to EPIK, would've been the most terrifying and confusing experience. I am grateful that Alistair saw my resume on a third party website and reached out to me with this wonderful and rewarding opportunity.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Fearing being unprepared and not knowing what to pack. I simply solve this by asking others in my group and looking at videos on social media for advice.

Extremely helpful

The EPIK application process was arguably one of the most stressful things I've ever had to do and I'm so glad I chose Korean Horizons. Alistair provides all the information you need for every step and any questions you have, he will answer in less than a day. The process can be very complicated especially when it came to all the documents required and the interview, but Alistair will always be there to help you from beginning till the end. I highly recommend Korean Horizons to anyone who wants to apply to EPIK because I honestly doubt I could've made it to South Korea so smoothly without Alistair's assistance.

I can't recommend Korean Horizons enough!

Alistair made the whole process from initial application to arriving at my apartment in Korea as seamless and easy as possible. It is, at times, a complicated process so his guidance was invaluable! He is honest and transparent, unlike some recruiters and always on hand to answers questions within a day, often just a few hours. He continues to support you after your arrival in Korea and even provides a welcome pack with useful items and information. Couldn't recommend more! Thank you Alistair :)

Questions & Answers

All of the positions we provide are full-time 12 month fixed term contracts. It's possible to renew each year.

Teaching experience is not required. 98% of all new teachers have no prior teaching experience. To apply, you need to have a bachelor. You need to have the commitment to complete the TEFL by your start date and you can apply without one. Hope that this information is useful.

Hey Paul - we did some research and it looks like the salary is controlled by the government, and there are pay grades. Appreciate the question, surely others are wondering too
